opportunities abound

As you'll review below and in the link pages about my work experience, I am an end results focused servant leader with a prodigious skill set to assist any organization. I am looking to be challenged, to be able to apply what I've learned, and have opportunities to grow even farther. Here are opportunities I've envisioned:

Facilities Management

Working for a large corporation, ensuring that projects are built well and that the building's lifecycle is managed well would be very rewarding to me. From utilizing my architecture and construction experience to researching, defining  and developing effective processes and policies for facilities would be great. Along with the analytical aspects of spreadsheets, number crunching, cost savings, cost validation, accounting and more.

Building Lifecycle has been around for decades. Putting this site together I came across research I had done on intelligent drawings back in 2002.  That was after we had created a website for our extensive and nationwide team for the DeVos Place Convention Center project. We had taken pictures of all areas of the existing buildings that were to likely remain. We had drawn all of the building floor plans and then placed indictors on where the pictures were taken and hyperlinked the indicator to the photos. The floor plans with indictors and the pictures were hosted on the Internet for all of the team members to utilize.

Today with ease at which publishing building data is, with such tools as PlanGrid, Fieldwire, Procore and more, I'd love to integrate them with more of the data behind those drawings and the major equipment that needs to be maintained. With QR codes and other technologies, ultimately making it more effective for installers, facilities staff and contractors to all work securely from the same data, is both challenging and a great opportunity I would love to assist with.

Owners Construction Representative

There is no more important part of the Owner Architect Contractor triangle than the owner. Ensuring the owner gets what it pays for and avoiding costly errors and omissions is what I have worked so hard to achieve in all of my work history. To be able to do that for the owner would complete the trifecta for me.

Contractor Preconstruction

In architecture you generally go from project to project, start to finish. With larger projects it gets much more complicated as construction phases increase. The fast pace and stressful jobs of contracting really invigorate me. It would allow me the challenges I experienced running large projects such as the DeVos Place Convention Center. Having to manage multiple phases/projects, ensure they are designed and documented well, estimated well and built well would thoroughly geek me out!

The management of a particular construction project is not one that I've been tasked with thus far. Having been part of so many and so many varying aspects of so many project though, I have every confidence that I can successfully manage multiple projects under construction, or one. Being able to coordinate with all aspects of roles, from Owner to trade contractor and vendors, in a construction project would be both challenging and very rewarding.

Architectural

As my architectural projects page indicates, I can draw buildings. I'm open to and love architecture! I love good design and seeing it applied well through construction is important to me. A position in architecture that challenges me, allows me to utilize all or much of my experience, is my focus.

Contractor Productivity Provider

Having provided so much productivity enhancements to companies I've worked for, I'd love to entertain how I can help other contractors. As you can review with the many contractor productivity tools there is a lot we can do together.

Software Development

I do love writing code. Applying my architecture/construction or other experience would be fun and rewarding. Some role involving Google and/or Google Workspace would allow me to really geek out!

If you have any of the above opportunities or others you think would fit my abilities, I'd love to talk with you! My email is my name doug@barense.com, please connect and let's see if there is a fit.

No matter what role/position, I promise to bring the all of my dogged determination, technology mastery and thoroughness. I promise to utilize my knowledge of how to build buildings well, utilize as needed, my staff management skills, always working to assist them into being the best they can be. I promise low to zero errors and omissions! I promise to utilize as needed all of my construction, architecture, software programming, office furniture and trade contractor experience. I promise to make the opportunities a reality.
